About the Sector
The industrial sector includes more than 1000 companies out of the approximately 2000 or more listings on the ASX. The industrial companies include a broad range of businesses from banking, finance, property trusts and property to utilities, telecommunications, consumer goods and staples, retail, IT and a whole range of service businesses, in addition to the core industrial activities of engineering, production, construction and high technology.
While some particular sectors are more clearly accessed via overseas stock markets, investment in a good proportion of Australia's major listed companies can provide not only specific exposure to developing industrial sectors but also exposure to overseas and global economies.
Some of the majors in fact draw the majority of their income from overseas activities and sales. Hence investors can in fact enjoy a very broad exposure to global development trends without venturing stocks outside the ASX.
We provide research reports across most S&P/ASX 200 Index stocks as well as up and coming stocks which most brokers tend to have a lesser focus. Hence our clients can expect to see more regular and current reports on many of the industry's potential future leaders.
Areas of our Interests
Some of the areas that have captured our interest over the last few years include industrial and services companies benefiting from the resources boom and the overdue investments in infrastructure.
Similarly we see continuing upside from a few areas; namely the information and communications technology ('ICT'), the growing commercial use of the internet, the impact of 'simple super', the globalisation on finance and investment and the emerging opportunities with the growth of China and India. More recently, we also note the growing sentiment on issues involving global warming and environmental changes.
Australian companies have the opportunity to play major roles in these areas and we attempt to understand and draw attention to the investment prospects that arise, often through the combination of first class management applying newly available technologies.
